Chapter 8

Scribe of the Mahabharata

Sage Vyasa sought one worthy to write the Mahabharata, and Ganesha accepted the task. With unmatched concentration and sacrifice, he became the divine scribe of one of the world's greatest epics.

When Sage Vyasa prepared to reveal the Mahabharata, he needed someone who could write without losing a single word. Ganesha alone was equal to such a task.

He agreed on one condition: Vyasa must recite without pause. Vyasa, in turn, asked that Ganesha write only after fully understanding each verse, making the work a union of wisdom and discipline.

When his writing tool broke, Ganesha is said to have used his own tusk so the sacred work would not stop. That act made him a symbol of learning, dedication, and selfless effort.
